Closure
The band has been going really well, and starting to pick up pace now. Recording a demo next week, with our mate Louis, which should be cool. Confirmed some gigs including Pulling Teeth and Pressvre. RAD
So...
Things I have been upto...
Read the Watchmen Graphic Novel...Finally. Then decided to watch the motion comic, which was awesome. Then went to see the Film, not going to lie all 3 we're awesome, just a shame they couldn't fit the whole story into the film.

OZ Magazine
Oz was first published as a satirical humour magazine between 1963–69 in Sydney, Australia and, in its second and more famous incarnation, became a "psychedelic hippy" magazine from 1967 to 1973 in London. Strongly identified as part of the underground press, it was the subject of two celebrated obscenity trials, one in Australia in 1964 and the other in the UK in 1971. On both occasions the magazine's editors were acquitted on appeal after initially being found guilty and sentenced to harsh jail terms.

Insane Blog
Found this crazy blog devoted to the most dire cult films around! I was just intrieged at how awful some of these films are, and how serious they are!
http://houseofselfindulgence.blogspot.com/
Examples
Killer Klowns From Outer Space (Stephen Chiodo 1988)

Earth Girls Are Easy (Julien Temple, 1989)
P.S Jim Carrey is in this film as one of the Aliens!

A Brief History of Anaglyph
Anaglyph images are used to provide a 3D effect, when viewed with 2 color glasses (each lens a chromatically opposite color, usually red and cyan). Images are made up of two color layers, superimposed, but offset with respect to each other to produce a depth effect. Usually the main subject is in the center, while the foreground and background are shifted laterally in opposite directions. The picture contains two differently filtered colored images, one for each eye. The visual part of the brain merges this into perception of a three dimensional scene or composition.
Anaglyph images have seen a recent resurgence due to the presentation of images and video on the internet, blue ray HD disks, CDs, and even in print. Low cost paper frames or plastic-framed glasses hold accurate color filters that typically, after 2002, make use of all 3 primary colors. The current norm is red for one channel (usually the left) and a combination of both blue and green in the other filter. That equal combination is called cyan in technical circles, or blue-green. The cheaper filter material used in the monochromatic past, dictated red and blue for convenience and cost. There is a material improvement of full color images, with the cyan filter, especially for accurate skin tones. Video games, theatrical films, and DVDs can be shown in the anaglyph 3D process.

3-D Illustrations
This is my firt attempt at a 3-D Illustration, i drew the skateboarder using pencil, fine liners and drawing inks. I then scanned it into my computer and imported it into photoshop. I then duplicated the image twice and put a light blue screen over one image and a red screen over then next. I then turned down the opacity of the blue screened image then moved it to the left. I then merged all visible layers and kept turning up the contrast until the blue and reds were vibrant enough. This is the result of my first attempt of a 3-D illustration.

Next on the Agenda
Next thing for me to do is work on some illustrations to try and make 3-D, I am guessing these Illustrations will need to be tonal to get a sense of the depth and to make the image come out of the screen.
3-D Imaging AKA Anaglyphs
Done a bit of Research home to make 3-D imaging, not sure if it will work with my illustrations but thats the whole point of experimentation. Here is how to do it with photos:
Take a Photograph and save it twice labelling one Left and one Right. Open the left photo in Photoshop, then from the color selector, select color #00FFFF, The equivalent of this in RGB is R-000 G-255 B-255.(This is also called cyan).
Create a layer above the left photo and fill it with this color.
Duplicate this layer and go to Image > Adjust > Invert. This will change the color of this duplicate cyan layer to a red color (direct opposite). In RGB the color created will be R-255 G-000 B-000.
Open the right photo and copy it, close it and in the left photo (the one to which you added the colored layers), paste it below the red layer.
Now position the 4 layers as follows: The bottom is your right photo. Above it is the red layer. Above it is the left photo and above this is the cyan layer.
If you wish to check the alignment of the two photo pairs you can turn off red and cyan layers and adjust the opacity of the left photo to 50%. Make sure both photos are on the same vertical plane and shift up/down appropriately. When finished change the opacity of the left photo back to 100%.
Turn on the cyan layer and change the transfer mode to screen.
Merge the cyan and left photo layers together. You should now see a very abstract cyan tinted image that will be hard to distinguish in areas.
Turn off this new cyan layer.
Turn the red and right photo layers back on and change the red transfer mode to screen. (Note: You don't need to merge these two if you don't want to.) Again you'll see an abstract red image similar to the cyan before.
Turn on the new merged cyan/left photo layer and change the transfer mode to multiply. Put on glasses (red on left, cyan on right) and you should now see the anaglyph.

Here is my first attempt at making a 3D image

Photoshop / Illustrator

Photoshop and Illustrator are two different programs that offer very different things. Photoshop is mainly for photo manipulation but you can also do some drawing on it but it is not as good as Illustrator. Illustrator is a vector based program which allows you to draw vector items. Vector is math based and will basically allow you more freedom if you are going to create something that will need to be various sizes since vector shapes are 'math' based you won't have problems with things being pixelated when they are made larger. Most Graphic Artists use a combination of both programs. Also I have had a look at some of tutorial sites for Photoshop and Illustrator and have also looked at books that show you how to use each program. These are professional programs that do a lot and they cost a lot of money as well but both are very, very good and are the industry standard.
Communication Technology
As a keen illustrator I am interested in all forms of Illustrations on and with all different mediums and processes. The more conventional methods like pen and ink, fine liners, biros and pencil I am very familiar with. This project is going to let me experiment with different forms of Illustration some more conventional and some less conventional. I would like to use computer technology to extend my work from just pen and paper into something digital that could be used for web and any other forms of Digital Imagery. There are many different types of software and different processes to consider. The main processes I would like to look at are different printmaking methods, such as screen printing, monoprint and drypoint, I would also like to extend conventional drawing methods but on different bases and combine collaging. For Digital Means I would like to look at how Photoshop and Illustrator differ and how they could help me to improve my work and how they could do things I would not be able to do manually. As an extended experiment I would like to try and make some 3-D imaging, using the blue and red 3-D glasses.
Geotagging
I Learnt About Geotagging today, can't really see myself using it that much as an Illustrator but the idea behind it is pretty cool. Geotagging is geographical identification to various media such as photographs, video, websites. This data can include latitude and longitude coordinates, though it can also include allitude, bearing, accuracy data, and place names.
Geotagging can help people find a wide variety of location-specific information. You can find images taken near a given location by entering latitude and longitude coordinates into a Geotagging-enabled image search engine. You can use all different pieces of software and hardware to enable geotagging, you can use GPS and note down where and when you are, as a basic method. Another option is to use a GPS photo finder and it stores the information of where you took the photo and when, so you can upload them and follow the path of where you travelled.

Role Models
Saw a film Recently called Role Models, pretty funny film, but other than that not really much to it. The one stand out part of the whole film was the line "I'm gonna run a train on these Chicken Fingers" had me laughing for ages. Watched the Pagemaster for the first time in Years too, was cool in 94, but now the use of technology makes it look a little dated, and the storyline wasnt as good as I remembered. Recommended film, if you havn't seen it already is The Science of Sleep, pretty cool and quirky film.
